At White Lion Lodge, guests can embark on twice-daily game drives through the diverse landscapes of Sanbona Nature Reserve, where they may encounter the Big Five along with other wildlife such as gemsbok, springbok, and giraffe. Bird enthusiasts can explore over 200 species, from majestic raptors like the Fish Eagle to endemic birds like the Cinnamon-breasted Warbler, within the reserve’s pristine Karoo habitat. The lodge also offers opportunities to discover ancient San rock art sites dating back over 3,500 years, providing insight into the spiritual and daily lives of Africa’s indigenous people. For a magical experience, guests can enjoy stargazing under the Karoo’s unpolluted night sky, marveling at constellations that have inspired stories for centuries. REVIEWS
Awesome Safari-lodging-experience. From the All-inclusive formula (food, wine and spirits) to the attention to details and the hospitality, everything was great. The wood fire-heated hot tub and the relaxing pool are also part of the magical experience.
The South Safari (included in the price) are nice and close to the Lodge, but the Big Five are in the North Safari. It is a search-and-find patience driven experience, but we managed to see all the animals in 2 runs, with extremely close elephant contact. Riding in the Sanbona is a joy and the landscape is beautiful. Our guide Romeo is the best!
This is a retreat experience, with a spiritual connection to the nature and the animals.
